Description
Use this non-fictional text within the classroom as an enhancement text which investigates the artistic work of Andy Goldsworthy at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, an open-air art museum based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Children will marvel at the pattern making that Andy Goldsworthy created using natural materials found within woodland such as leaves, twigs and flowers. Introduce into the outdoor classroom for children to seek inspiration and recreate his work using Outdoor Natural Materials and the Creative Materials Complete Collection, supporting children to practice problem solving and creating their own ideas.
Use as a focus text to discuss the changing seasons and how this impacts the landscape and the natural materials that children can find during each season. Children will be engaged and inquisitive as the book takes them on the journey of how each piece was created through short poetry.
Situate the enhancement text indoors within the Natural Materials area for children to take inspiration from on a smaller scale and within the Mark Making and Paint & Workshop Areas for children to create their own artistic masterpieces.
