For Leaders, Reception Teachers and Practitioners working in Reception, the EExREC Beyond Baseline Tool offers practical support and a simple approach for undertaking an effective and information-rich assessment process at the ‘mid-point’ of the academic year.
To strengthen assessment processes, we recommend using this EExREC Beyond Baseline Assessment Tool as a follow-up ‘mid-year’ assessment to complement the Autumn Term on-entry EExREC Baseline Assessment.
With important reminders about principled assessment, effective practices and interpreting the data collected, EExREC Beyond Baseline aims to support Practitioners to gather vital information about progress from start points, and crucially which children need what support and why. It will enable Teachers to effectively target support so that all children can be as well placed as possible by the end of their time in EYFS.
Similarly to the EExREC Baseline Assessment Tool, EExREC Beyond Baseline enables schools to gain an accurate picture of the children’s ages and stages, Well-being, Involvement, Characteristics of Effective Learning and vital information about their knowledge and skills within the EYFS Areas of Learning.
The Handbook User Guidance will take you step-by-step through the assessment process, making professional judgements based on first-hand knowledge of each individual child. It will help you to engage in high-level professional, reflective conversations about individual children, the class or cohort and will build confidence in making important decisions to inform next steps in teaching and learning to enable progress.
A range of data can be created and analysed by inputting the information gathered onto your own school data platforms, making EExREC Beyond Baseline the next ‘must have’ tool for Teachers, Senior Leaders and School Leaders.
