Description
Enhance your early years environment with the Colour Resource Treasure Basket, a thoughtfully curated collection of open-ended, everyday resources designed to support heuristic play through open-ended, self-directed exploration. Carefully selected to promote sensory and visual development, the collection includes a rich range of colourful resources, including 3 soft toys, wooden-handled colour and glow panels, kaleidoscope blocks, gem cubes, silicone rainbow arch, chiffon scarves. These are presented in a large natural basket with lid for children to explore.
Designed for use in EYFS classrooms and nursery settings, these treasure basket resources invite children to explore freely at their own pace, encouraging curiosity, choice, and sustained engagement. Children explore using their hands, fingers, eyes, and mouth, supporting early sensory awareness and whole-body learning. As children grasp, turn, stack, and transfer objects between hands, they develop hand strength, hand–eye coordination, and two-handed manipulation.
The varied use of colour supports early visual awareness, helping children notice similarities, differences, and contrast. Children naturally explore how objects look, feel, and respond to movement, developing an understanding of cause and effect through repeated, self-directed exploration. Returning to familiar resources builds confidence, concentration, and independence, while also creating opportunities for shared attention and interaction with others.
The open-ended range of treasure basket resources encourages curiosity, persistence, and deep engagement while providing children with a wide choice of items to explore and attract their interest. Adults can enrich learning by naming colours, describing children’s actions, and responding to gestures and vocalisations, supporting early language development, listening, and communication.
Extend children’s exploration by combining the Colour Resource Treasure Basket with other Early Excellence 1–2 years resources, including a wider selection of Treasure Baskets, Small World Complete Collection 1–2yrs, Early Investigations Resource Collection 1–2yrs, or Block Resource Collection 1-2yrs to create a rich, engaging environment that supports sensory exploration, early communication, and growing independence.
