Description
Enhance your early years environment with the Metal Resource Treasure Basket, a carefully curated collection of metal and everyday household resources designed to support heuristic play through open-ended, self-directed exploration. The collection includes reflective sensory balls, funnels, whisks, miniature saucepans, serving buckets, spoons, colanders, mashers, mixing bowls and more, all presented in a medium natural basket with lid.
These familiar resources encourage children to explore safely at their own pace, inviting curiosity, choice, and focused engagement. Handling the objects supports reaching, grasping, turning, and transferring between hands, helping to develop hand strength, hand–eye coordination, and two-handed manipulation.
Children can explore through touch, sight, and sound, discovering how objects move, feel, and respond to action. Repetition and returning to familiar resources helps to sustain interest, build confidence, and create opportunities for shared attention with others.
Youngest learners can explore textures, sounds, and movement using their hands, fingers, and mouth, building early sensory awareness. Open-ended, multi-sensory exploration encourages early curiosity and the development of concentration, persistence, and independence. Adults can enhance learning by naming objects, describing children’s actions, and responding to gestures, supporting early language, listening, and communication.
The resources are made of stainless steel which is highly hygienic due to their non-porous surface. It does not absorb moisture, bacteria or odours and are easy to clean, sterilise and disinfect without degrading, supporting high hygiene standards in EYFS classroom.
Extend children’s exploration by combining the Sensory Balls Treasure Basket with other Early Excellence 1–2 years resources. Use alongside our other Treasure Baskets, Early Investigations Resource Collection, or Investigations In, Under, Through Resource Collection to create a rich, engaging environment that supports sensory play, physical development and growing independence.
