Designed by our experienced curriculum team, the outdoor compact shed contains the gardening complete resource collection and exploring nature complete collection, creating an enticing area for children to showcase their investigative skills, examine cause and effect and develop their physical skills and scientific thinking.
The gardening and exploring nature collections contain an extensive range of resources. The nature investigation resources are excellent for children to develop knowledge about weather climates such as wind and rain using the investigating weather resources. The collection also contains rich resources for mini-beast bug hunts such as bug jars, pooters and magnifying glasses for the keen explorers! The range of gardening tools such as rakes & spades, hand gardening tools and sweeping brushes will be favoured amongst budding gardeners who enjoy the sensory experiences gardening offers and will feel a sense of satisfaction when they clear areas of leaves and tidy up soil beds to plant seeds.
The set is completed with a useful children’s wheelbarrow for children to independently lift, load and transport soil or resources to their desired spot in the outdoor area.
Children will develop their gross motor and problem solving skills as they dig and transport soil using the wheelbarrow. They will also develop their fine motor skills though weeding and planting with smaller gardening tools.
The outdoor gardening and nature investigations will become an area that early years and KS1 children will benefit from scientifically, physically and cognitively, using the area all year round.
Resources are stored in one outdoor shed using accessible outdoor containers, supporting children to develop independence, confidence, and the ability to plan and carry out their own ideas. With secure door and floor bolts and a self-sprung lid, children quickly learn how to open the shed and access what they need with ease.
